Senior Scientist
A*STAR Bioinformatics Institute, Jan 2021 - August 2024

• Forecasting the Onset and Growth of Emerging Diseases using Genomic and Behavioural Analytics
• I led a team that employed a range of time-series techniques and machine learning algorithms on multimodal datasets to predict possible spikes in case counts.
• This project was awarded an A*STAR Infectious Diseases Horizontal Technology Coordinating Office grant for 2 years (2023 thru 2024).
• Real-time interactive visualisations for tracking of COVID-19
• Weekly reports for public consumption, summarising and analysing up to 100K newly-collected viral sequences
• Virome-scale checks of diagnostic tools for COVID-19
• Created weekly reports of summarising and analysing up to 100K newly-collected viral sequences, and presented at ad-hoc WHO meetings
• Mentoring of undergraduate interns in the development of analytics and data visualisation for variant tracking

Senior Research Fellow

Data scientist and lead analyst in a range of interdisciplinary research projects, requiring management of deadlines and needs across different stakeholders

Co-authored eight research papers, with key copy-editing and graphic presentation contributions such as data visualisation and statistical analyses

Conceptualised development and delivered 3 well-received courses (2017 - 2020) in estimation statistics to Duke-NUS first-year graduate students. Class sizes averaged 12 people. (Course rating was 0.8 points higher than the mean rating for other courses on a 5-point scale.)
